Your Service. Your Story. Carved in Wood.
Board to Badge was created with a purpose that goes beyond woodworking.
As a specialized collection of Stikman Originals, Board to Badge transforms the badges, crests and symbols of Canada's first responders, correctional professionals and military personnel into handcrafted works of art.
Each piece is intended to preserve a career, a commitment, a personal achievement or a lifetime of service.
Whether you're actively serving, enjoying retirement, or honouring someone who has served, our goal is to create something that carries pride, memories and meaning.
The Story Behind Board to Badge
My name is Greg Kupchinski, and I spent 25 years working with Correctional Service Canada.
During those years, I came to understand that a career in public service is much more than a uniform, a badge or a job title. It's about the people, the experiences, the sacrifices and the bonds formed along the way.
I also understand that service can come with a personal cost.
PTSD and operational stress injuries can affect those who serve, as well as the families standing beside them. This is something that has touched my own life and family, making the purpose behind Board to Badge especially personal.
As my passion for woodworking grew, I discovered that creating something with my hands also helped me manage my own PTSD and the stresses that came with my career. Woodworking became more than a hobby, it became a meaningful part of my own healing journey.
Through that experience, I saw an opportunity to bring together two things that matter deeply to me: creating meaningful handcrafted products and recognizing those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
That's how Board to Badge came to life.
More Than a Plaque
Every Board to Badge creation begins with the understanding that a badge or crest represents more than an organization. It represents years of dedication, friendships, challenges, accomplishments and memories.
Through carefully selected wood and detailed carving techniques, we turn those symbols into lasting keepsakes that honour the people and stories behind them.
Whether celebrating an active career, recognizing retirement or remembering someone who served, each piece is created with pride, care and respect for the service it represents.
Giving Back to Those Who Serve
Giving back is a fundamental part of what Board to Badge stands for.
We commit 5% of the selling price of every Board to Badge product to Canadian charitable organizations supporting first responders affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and operational stress injuries (OSI).
Our focus is on Canadian organizations providing meaningful assistance to first responders, correctional professionals, military personnel, veterans and their families.
We believe that supporting those who have served should continue long after their careers have ended.
As Board to Badge grows, we intend to highlight the Canadian organizations receiving our support and review our charitable partnerships to ensure our contributions continue making a meaningful difference.
We also welcome recommendations for Canadian charities doing important work in this area.
And with every purchase, you become part of something special. Together, we're doing more than honouring service — we're helping support those who may be facing challenges long after the uniform has been put away.
